About Us

Vision
The NUS Health and Fitness (H&F) Club has the vision to play a leading role in providing an environment for NUS population to stay healthy and fit through various enjoyable fitness activities. We also aspire to continue the legacy of Muscle and Fitness War as the largest amateur bodybuilding competition in Singapore, in promoting bodybuilding as a sport among tertiary students alongside with the Singapore Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (SBBF).

Mission
The NUS H&F Club’s mission comprises of two parts: To promote an active lifestyle among students and to provide guidance in achieving a healthy lifestyle.

H&F strives to encourage more students’ to exercise regularly so as to incorporate a more healthy and balanced lifestyle into their often stressful daily lives, and educate them on the long term benefits of this for both their mind and body.

Our club also seeks to actively communicate the benefits of fitness activities as well as the importance of having a nutritious and balanced diet.

History
The NUS H&F Club was founded in the late 1980s by a handful of students in an interest in pursuing fitness activities, bodybuilding and passionate about encouraging others to adopt a balanced, healthy lifestyle. In its early days, it focused primarily on diet, gym sessions and bodybuilding.

Ever since the club was established, it has organized the annual amateur bodybuilding event, Muscle and Fitness War, which became the most popular amateur bodybuilding competition in Singapore, attracting even members of the public to join. The latest, Muscle and Fitness War 2011, was held in the prestigious University Cultural Center and the reception was terrific with all the tickets sold out.

Over the years, the NUS H&F Club also began reaching out to students beyond the bodybuilding realm. Since 1995, it has provided the undergraduates with a wide array of fitness courses, including Muay Thai, aerobics, yoga, pilates etc. It has succeeded in spurring great interest among students for such sports, as seen from the birth of Muay Thai and Aerobics Club by former H&F course participants. As for now, H&F is proud to serve more than 200 NUS students through its yoga, pilates, TBT and kickboxing courses.
